Kathryn was born in New Zealand, came on holiday here in 1977 and she’s still here. Kathryn’s Aunt was Daphne March, who along with her brother Christopher owned Heather Bell. Daphne put pressure on the GUCCCo through the Ministry of War Transport to allow women to run boats during the war out of which came the Trainees, sometimes (erroneously) known as Idle Women.
Kathryn has retired from 35 years with British Airways and now lives canalside in Stoke Bruerne where she has become very involved with the museum and their former working boat Sculptor.
