We have received the following update, December 2024, from the team at Batchworth:
"We have been working hard behind the scenes all year to try and ensure that next year's Rally will be as successful as this year. There will be a few minor changes/additions but ultimately the rally will take a similar format as it did this year.
The Sea Scouts will be hosting live music, food and a bar from Saturday Lunchtime through until Sunday afternoon, there will be a floating market, many interesting boats and a parade. Activity at the Batchworth Lock, and of course the usual competitions.
The theme for 2025 will be the 90 years birthdays for a very large number of working boats, particularly the Star Class Harland and Wolff boats where 66 pairs were launched that year for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Co. Of course there were others that were built that year too and we would love to see as many as possible. The birthday will extend to those that were built before 1935 as well so that none of the boats are missed out. We hope to continue the theme for 2026 and 2027 (1936/7) after that date the war came and few boats if any were built after that.
The fees for 2025 will remain roughly the same as this year. We have added a couple more categories and we are offering a discount for the birthday boats.
There will be priority booking in January for those that attended this year (2024) and new enquiries. In February the price will remain the same but on 1/3/25 the cost will go up by £10 so early booking is very much recommended."
