Nick's family have been boating since the 1930s. Nick remembers childhood holidays in the '60s on small wooden cruisers. In 1968 Nick's father bought Beatty, a converted Samuel Barlow motor built at Yarwoods, which Nick now owns. Over the years Beatty has cruised just about everywhere on the system accessible by a full length boat.
Nick is a member of CRT's Navigation Advisory Group (NAG).
Nick recently moved north from Somerset, having retired after 30 years of teaching, and now lives in Cheshire, close to the Shroppie. Nick and his wife, Liz, have plans for a leisurely retirement afloat.
