From Good Friday 7th April to Bank Holiday Monday 10th April 2022
Following last year’s successful Easter Boat Gathering event where we were able to enjoy good weather and meet up with friends after the two-year imposed break due to the pandemic, we are pleased to say planning is in full swing for this year and we look forward to seeing you all again.
As part of this year’s celebrations, the museum will be offering tours to the Rossfield Road store over the weekend to boaters and to the general public. Details on how to book these tours will be on the museum’s website in due course.
There will also be the opportunity to buy a book or two from a selection donated by the family of Terry Kavanagh who died in the Autumn of 2022. Many of the books are “as new” and relate to inland waterways together with many maritime and coastal themes. Terry did much research over many years and was a regular contributor to Waterways Journal. The proceeds will be donated to the Waterways Archive in line with his family’s request.
Evening activities for boaters will include an update on the exciting things that have been happening in the Museum, Collections and Archives during the last twelve months, with the chance to refill your glasses before hearing from a guest speaker. Saturday evening will start with the opportunity to enjoy a curry in the café before moving on to the Rolt Theatre where the bar will be open and there will be the opportunity to reminisce as past photos are shared. On Sunday, Billy will return with a new Easter quiz and be DJ for the evening. Lots of opportunities to relax, catch up and share a beer or two.
Please remember to complete your boat entry form if you intend to visit the museum over Easter. The form is available via www.canalrivertrust.org.uk/nwm or you can telephone the museum on 0151 355 5017. The boating team will appreciate your details in advance to help them with their planning.
Welcoming you to the event is an important part of our season launch and we are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible over this weekend.
