POSTPONED Welford Canal Festival

Statement from the Welford harbourmaster:
It is that unfortunate time, where we have had to make a decision regarding the Welford Canal Festival on 16th / 17th May.
With the ever changing, and at the moment progressively worsening, situation surrounding Covid-19, we have taken the decision to postpone the event until September 19th & 20th 2020.
We hope you can understand the reasoning behind our decision. We felt it in the best public interest to do so following government advice.
After the Crick show became a casualty of Covid-19 at the start of the week we began looking into alternative dates and decided that September 19th and 20th would be a good weekend, as boats may be in the area if they are attending Stoke Bruerne's Village at War event, the weekend previous.
We are ever optimistic though, and hope that by the time September rolls around this unpresidented health crisis will be behind us, if not at least on it's tail end.
At the minute, The Friends of the Welford Arm plan to work throughout the summer in preparation for the event and we really hope that you can join us for a weekend celebration this September at the end of the Welford Arm. We are unfortunatley unable to start the boating season with a bang this year, but we shall certainly try and end it with one!
Although a long way off yet, it is our hope that the event will return to it's normal May weekend in 2021.
If you are still able to attend the event in September please let me know, although we understand if you already have prior commitments.
