Organised by the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society - http://www.bcn-society.co.uk/

After the success of the cruises of the past four years it is the intention of the Society to hold a cruise again this year to encourage boaters to explore the Birmingham Canal Navigations prior to the Canal Festival at Pelsall.  They have found that many boaters prefer the additional security of cruising in company with other boaters and they enjoy the social side of informal gatherings at the designated mooring locations.

The Explorer Cruise will take a slightly different route this year, as the Society continues to encourage the use of the less travelled parts and to enjoy the little used pleasures of the northern BCN. This year they include a walk and conducted tour of BW’s Bradley Workshops. Details of the route are given below.

The cruise will commence from Curdworth at Wigginshill Bridge, near The Kingsley, on the morning of Saturday 4th June and the planned evening stops are as follows:

  • Friday 3rd- Meet at Curdworth in the evening
  • Saturday 4th – Above Perry Barr lock 12
  • Sunday 5th - Ocker Hill
  • Monday 6th – Wolverhampton
  • Tuesday 7th – Walsall Town Arm
  • Wednesday 8th – Willingsworth Bridge, Walsall Canal for conducted tour of BW’s Bradley Workshops
  • Thursday 9th - Longwood Boat Club
  • Friday 10th – Pelsall Common
